Old Friends!

I love seeing old friends. It just makes my week.

A few weeks ago we went to my friend Ashley's apartment and saw Ashley; Jessica her hubby Tyler, and their little girl Maddi; and Jenna and her hubby Isaiah. We went swimming (well, we didn't because Lucy refused to nap earlier. But everyone else did), and ate dinner. It was so fun!

I have been friends with these girls since 6th grade. Even though we don't see each other often we have a ball every time we get together!

This is Jenna's new hubby Isaiah. Apparently he hadn't ever held a baby before, so Jenna wanted a picture. Sadly, right after this picture we realized that Lylah had pooped through everything. It was not a great first experience for Isaiah. :)

About a week later, we got together with my other group of friends from high school. It was SUCH a blast to see everyone again! Everyone was able to make it except Kendyl and Karl. We missed them. But we loved seeing everyone else!

The group has really grown with all the spouses and babies! So fun!

95 years...

This last weekend we had a very eventful weekend. We went to Boise for my Great Grandma's 95th birthday party. Here's the story...

So we left for the trip on Friday early afternoon. Several hours into the drive our car started having problems. Gah! Eventually we had to switch me and the girls into my sister's car and Kyle was going to take our car back to the closest town. By this point it was about 6 on Friday night. We were at the bottom of a big hill, and it took Kyle several hours to get about 15 miles. So frustrating! No mechanics were open when he got there, so he checked into a hotel and went to bed.

Meanwhile, we continued up to Boise. We finally made it to our hotel at about 10:30. The girls got to sleep just after midnight. Megan and our luggage (pj's and all) were with my cousins. They didn't get to our place until about 1:30. It was so late.

The next morning, Kyle found a mechanic. The car's problem has to do with the transmission, but is fixable, which we're grateful for. He was able to take the car back home, and then he was so sweet and drove all the way back up to Boise (5 1/2 hours!).

We spent the morning and early afternoon with my dad's cute cousins and their families. They fed us and took us swimming. The girls loved it!

Then Saturday evening was the big party. It was so fun! The girls were exhausted, and slept through the first bit. Kyle made it just as dinner was getting started. We were so glad!

And the party...

Cousins!
Uncle Allen sang during the program:
Grandma loved it:
Papa tried to get Lucy to sing "happy birthday", but she was being too shy in front of all the people. She did sing it for Grandma two other times, with less people watching. :)
My cute grandmas:
Mark and Megan did a jazz piece:
Both of my grandmas enjoyed it:
Grandma thanked everyone for coming:
We did 3 cheers for grandma: :)
My dad's cousin Becky made Grandma a bouquet of 95 chocolate roses:
Grandma was very pleased:
Several of Grandma's daughters paid tribute to her as well:

After the program, we did pictures.
Here is Grandma with her 5 girls:
5 generations! Grandma Shaffer, Grandma Stout, Dad, Me, Lucy & Lylah:
Lucy and Papa with my dad's cousin and the other great-great-grandchild, Gage:
Lucy got really tired at the end. Papa was carrying her around on his shoulders:
Every once in a while, she would get this really sad face. She was so tired she could barely function. :)
Grandma has 3 great-great-grandchildren. Lucy, Lylah, and Gage:
This is one of my favorites from the day. Lucy and Lylah really loved their grandma:
Isn't she beautiful?
Love this lady!

Before we left on Sunday afternoon, we went to Grandma's house. Lylah was so funny, she just stared at Grandma every time she saw her and would get the biggest grin on her face when Grandma would look at her.

On the way home, Lucy was so good. She just sat in the back quietly coloring pictures. At the very end she was so tired, and we ended up pulling out the little dvd player. She was amazed that she could "watch a show" in the car!
